Around the sacred well, rows of foundations of open-air structures can be seen, the functions of which were linked to community life and trade. There were artisan workshops and places catering for pilgrims.  Among the workshops was a large circular hut containing a stone bench, running along the walls of the room.  This was interpreted as a “meeting hut”, inside which political meetings were held between the village dignitaries who attended the sanctuary.  At the centre of the village sanctuary, it is thought there was an open area where ritual festivities were staged in honour of the goddess of the waters, including sacred songs and dances and games in honour of the divinity.
