The monument was mentioned in the 19th century by General Alberto Ferrero della Marmora di Torino and Canon Giovanni Spàno di Ploàghe, and was the subject of scientific surveys in the seventies by Cagliari University (Archaeology Department) and the Archaeological Superintendency of Cagliari and Oristano.

Some of the results of the archaeological excavations remain unpublished. Only those findings were published that concerned four bronze figurines (three male and one female) of Phoenician origin dating from 1000 B.C., symbols that represented the healing obtained there.
